Frequently Asked Questions

🌳 General Service Questions

What is stump grinding, and how does it work?

Stump grinding is a process that uses a specialized machine to grind tree stumps down below ground level. It eliminates the visible stump without removing the entire root system, allowing the area to be leveled and replanted.

What’s the difference between stump grinding and stump removal?

Stump grinding shreds the stump below grade, leaving roots to decay naturally. Stump removal pulls out the entire stump and root system, which is more disruptive and often more expensive.

How deep do you grind the stump?

We typically grind 4 to 6 inches below ground (to allow for top soil to be laid and grass to grow), but we can go deeper if needed for landscaping or replanting purposes.

Can you remove surface roots too?

Yes — we offer root tracing and grinding as an optional service for exposed or troublesome roots.

💰 Pricing & Estimates

How much does stump grinding cost?

Pricing depends on the size, location, and number of stumps. We offer fair, competitive rates and are happy to provide a free, no-obligation in-person quote.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. We provide free no obligation quotes in person.

Is there a minimum service charge?

Yes — our minimum fee is $250 to cover travel, setup, and equipment.

Do you offer discounts for multiple stumps?

Absolutely. We offer bundled pricing for multiple stumps on the same visit.

🛠️ Scheduling & Job Details

How long does stump grinding take?

The time to grind a stump varies depending on size and root spread.

Do I need to be home during the service?

Not necessarily. As long as we have access to the stump and any gates are unlocked, we can complete the job without you being present.

What should I do before you arrive?

Please clear the area of rocks, debris, pets, and toys and mark / notifying us of any hidden utilities. We can contact 811 on your behalf if needed.

🌱 Aftercare & Cleanup

What happens to the wood chips?

We typically leave the wood chips in a neat pile over the grind area. If you prefer, we offer chip removal and haul-away for an additional fee.

Can I replant or lay sod where the stump was?

Yes, but it’s best to let the area settle for a few weeks or add topsoil to level the ground before reseeding or sodding.

Do you offer soil, grass seed, or sod services?

No, we currently do not offer these services.

🧾 Payment, Policies & Peace of Mind

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept credit cards, Zelle, Venmo, checks, and cash. Invoices can be paid online through a secure link or in person when the job is completed.

Are you insured?

Do you guarantee your work?
